As usual in recent years, when we start programming what will be the traveler calendar of the year One of the long trips, we always try to fit on Christmas dates, also trying to include the start of the new year. On this occasion, after planning throughout the year, we found that we had 31 days for this trip, something that made us consider several possibilities, taking into account, above all, the time and days we had. After a few laps, we ended up choosing a destination we were looking forward to drive the tooth

… Let's go to Chile in 31 days, adding Easter Island as a final climax to this piece of destiny!

The truth is that the beginning of the planning was not too easy, mostly because of the little information we found on the internet about possible itineraries and transfers in the country, something that made us initially consider the purchase of the flight, which we found thanks to a offer that we published in Best Flight with Alitalia, with a schedule that fit us perfectly and a very tight price.
With the flight already in our possession, we went on to analyze the destinations that we wanted to know in this first visit to Chile in 31 days and based on that determine how many days we needed in each of the chosen places. Telling that Chile is immense and that we could not see the whole country, we have opted to make a little bit of everything and thus be able to take us an image as global as possible, which will serve as a beginning for a future visit.

Itinerary Chile in 31 days

The trip will start in Santiago, Chile, staying at the Sommelier Express Hotel, where we will be a couple of full days, dedicating them to tour the city and knowing such emblematic places as the Plaza de Armas, the Central Market, the London-Paris District, Santa Lucia Hill, Lastarria Neighborhood, Bellavista Neighborhood, where La Chascona is located, Pablo Neruda's house, and San Cristobal Hill.

The third day of trip to Chile in 31 days we will approach by bus to Valparaíso, another one of the most emblematic cities of the country, where its forty-five hills stand out, the funiculars through which you can reach them (thus relaxing the legs), its colorful stairs and an architecture very characteristic that stands out over the sea in the background.

After these first days between Santiago de Chile and Valparaíso, we will go north to the north of the country, flying to Calama, to go later to San Pedro de Atacama, gate of the Atacama Desert, one of the places we most wanted to know in Chile and where we will spend 5 days staying at Hostal Pablito, touring incredible places such as the Altiplanic Lagoons, the Salar de Atacama, the Salar del Tara, the Geysers of the Tatio and the Valley of the Moon, in addition to performing an Astronomical Tour one of the nights, which will allow us to enjoy what they say, is one of the most beautiful skies in the world.

After our stay in the north of the country, we will catch a LAN flight to fly to Puerto Montt, stopping in Santiago de Chile, which will be the gateway to our next stop in Chile for free in 31 days: Chiloé.
Chiloé has been a discovery for us. As we read more of the place, we wanted to include it more in this trip to Chile and Easter Island, so in the end, we decided to give this area of the country 5 days, counting the days of arrival and departure.
You have to think that the distances in Chile are considerable, so the best option (and fastest) goes through the plane and sometimes, like this one, the rental car.
To enter Chiloé we had to fly from Santiago de Chile to Puerto Montt and from there to reach Chiloé, about 3 and a half hours from Puerto Montt. The displacement happened to take several buses in addition to a ferry, something that for time did not fit us too much, so we have preferred to rent a car in Puerto Montt and thus be able to travel Chiloé with total freedom of movement and schedules.
There we will stay in Castro, a city known for its palafitos, in the Alcamar Cabins from where the next two days we will visit different islands in search of the sixteen most representative churches of Chiloé, built by order of Jesuits and Franciscans in their evangelizing missions and which are A symbol of this area of the country.
On the third day we will dedicate it completely to touring the Chiloé National Park where we want to make some of the trails that can be done for free in a day like the Cucao Beach Trail or the Cucao Dunes Trail.

Touring this area of the country, we will return to Puerto Montt where we will return the rental car to catch a flight again, this time from Sky Airline that will take us to Punta Arenas, capital of the Magallanes Region and the Chilean Antarctic, where we will be a couple of days, staying at the Hotel José Nogueira, one of them to make a Tour to Isla Magdalena and Marta, where we will navigate through the Strait of Magellan to reach Isla Magdalena, place that receives more than 150,000 penguins every year and to Marta Island, which houses more than 1,000 sea lions at this time of year.

After this small raid in this area of Chile, we will take a bus that will take us to Puerto Natales, where we will arrive on December 30 at night and where we will stay the next 3 nights at The Siging Lamb and where we will say goodbye the year doing a Agunsa Patagonia tour that will take us through the Last Hope Fjord to the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park with the aim of reaching the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers, two of the most impressive enclaves in Chile.

Telling that at this point of the trip we will already have a good tour and that on January 1 we will be in Puerto Natales, we have decided to make this day a relaxing moment in the trip and dedicate it completely to know this beautiful city with calm and enjoying of the entry into the new year.

After this day of calmer in the trip to Chile for free in 31 days, we will start again, getting on a bus that will take us to Torres del Paine, where we will be the next 4 days, staying at the Hotel Las Torres with whom we will enter this incredible place, making every day some departure to know the different areas from the park, among which, how could it be otherwise, we will include the Trekking to the Base of the Torres del Paine, one of the cherries of this incredible trip.

After our stay in Torres del Paine, it will be time to catch a flight again, this time from Punta Arenas to Santiago, Chile, where we will spend the night to the next day fly to Easter Island, one of the great reasons to do this trip to Chile for free in 31 days.
In this magical place we will be the next 8 days, staying at the Hangaroa Eco Village & Spa, from where we will dedicate this end of the trip to know this incredible island by rental car, looking for that energy and above all, enjoying one of the most Incredibles of the planet.

In Easter Island we will finish this trip, with which we will begin a new course in our professional and traveling life that we will tell you more when the new year arrives ... See you around the world !!

“The trip is a road without return: the more you have seen, the greater your awareness of what remains to be seen”
